Nairobi, Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Lamu, and Tana River counties will experience power interruptions on Saturday, the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced.

The scheduled interruptions will take place at various times throughout the day, with Nairobi affected from 9 am to 5 pm.

The affected areas in the capital city include Ruai Shopping Centre, Ruai Police Station, Ruai DC premises, Githunguri, Block 10, Makongeni, Stage 26, Twin Bird, Kipawa, Made in the Streets, Kingoris, Kamulu, Reflector, Brook Shine, Ngondu, and Athi Primary.

Customers in adjacent areas will also experience interruptions.

According to Kenya Power, these interruptions are necessary for maintenance work.

"Our routine maintenance schedule includes planned interruptions with the aim of enhancing service delivery to our customers," it said in a statement.

Trans Nzoia's interruption is also set for 9 am to 5 pm, with areas such as Kipsingori Primary School and Kaplamai, being affected. In Bungoma, the power supply will be cut from 9 am to 2 pm, affecting parts including Webuye Town and the Satellite Hotel.

The entire Lamu island, along with Mokowe and Nyongoro, will experience power interruptions from 9 am to 5 pm, and so will Tana River residents and businesses in Hola Town, Masalani Town, Bura Town, and Charidende Market.

Kenya Power advised people in these areas to take necessary precautions and arrange for alternatives to support their activities.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and assure our customers that we are working to ensure minimal disruption during this maintenance period," the statement read.
